[blockquote author_name=’Mike Greene – Decatur Gin Company’ width=’50%’ float=’left’]“The powered roll box door is a great idea, and the new seed roll retainer means we don’t drop seed rolls when the breast comes out. Both of these features reduce our downtime, which saves time and money.”[/blockquote]
Modern Commercial Gin Lines begin with a combination of two separate machines; the Feeder which is stacked on top, and the Gin Stand stacked beneath where the seed is separated from the fiber. Seed cotton enters the top of the Feeder from the Conveyor Distributor. The Feeder effectively separates seed cotton into single locks, provides another cleaning step, and then evenly delivers it to the Gin Stand. The Gin Stand separates the seeds from the fiber, and is at the heart of the entire ginning process. Once seed and fiber are separated, the cotton is referred to as lint.
